In 1987 Philip had to find a new way of earning a living following redundancy.
Philip had always produced small pieces of woodwork for his own amusement and decided to try and make a living from it. After buying a minimum amount of machinery, he started to make small items and luckily found an outlet for his work. Later, work expanded into fitted furniture and kitchens.
With no formal training in woodwork Philip was largely self taught but has always really enjoyed designing and making. However, there was the occasional invaluable advice from a friend who is a formally trained furniture maker. Philip has always been passionate about re-using wood, using locally sourced indigenous hardwoods and trying, wherever possible, to use reclaimed timber of all sorts…and this he still does..
Philip has rarely advertised and leads have developed through word of mouth and selling through markets, galleries and craft fairs.
Now after many years he’s come full circle. He restricts himself to making small items that he sells through his type of tried and tested outlets. And now he’s on the web…..Welcome to the 21st century Philip!
